The current weather conditions could not be any better, according to one source who has claimed that people heading on ski weekends to the resort will be hugely impressed with what is in store for them.

Skiing expert Alan Furniss, writing for Courchnet.com, said winter sports enthusiasts will not be disappointed by the heavy snowfall, which has created a deep snowbase and crisp surface which is perfect for schussing and slaloming down the slopes.

Last week he skied along the downhill path called Petit Lac over towards the top of the Jardin Alpin Gondola to the Pralong chair and said it made for a hugely enjoyable few hours.

"This gives access to the easiest and safest area in Courchevel to display your skills at off-piste skiing. The gently sloping area between the Biollay piste and the Pralong piste was knee-deep in fresh powder and great fun," he explained.

Mr Furniss added: "I'm really running out of superlatives to describe Courchevel at the moment so I’ll just stick with 'simply the best'."

It comes after Peter Hardy, the Daily Telegraph's skiing correspondent, said that he recently travelled to Courchevel and found that some major dumps of snow had made the base thick, crisp and perfect for skiing.
