Snow Polo World Cup begins at Courchevel 1850

Courchevel is synonymous with ski holidays in France, but this weekend it will be the home to an altogether different outdoor pursuit - snow polo.

Beginning today (January 22nd) with a procession of the players and their ponies, the S Club Snow Arena Polo World Cup will bring some of the globe's best snow polo players together for four days of competitive action.

Teams from Spain, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands will be competing to establish which is the best in the world.

All of the action takes place at the high-altitude air strip in Courchevel 1850, with the two finalists clashing on Sunday at 13:30.

In related news, Courchevel authorities gave an unlikely makeover to bins throughout the resort this season.

According to Courchnet.com, the new bins are fashioned from wood to give them the appearance of small chalets.
