Ski News from skiweekends.com, the very best in ski breaks and ski holidays for singles, couples and families.

Here are just some of the major works being done across the 3 valleys ski area. Ski weekends run ski breaks and ski holidays to Meribel ski resort in the 3 valleys, this also grants you access to the 600+ Kms of 3 valleys piste (with the right lift pass), so you may find it interesting to know what's going on before you go on your ski break or ski holiday.

Express lift for Meribel:

Meribel ski resort is having the Saulire lift replaced with an 8 man express gondola, this will mean you can get from Meribel to the ski slopes of Saulire in just 12 minutes. Previously this trip had taken skiers around 20 minutes.

Piste improvements:

Several busy pistes are having improvements made to them to ease congestion and make them safer. For instance: Lac de la Chambre red run is having its narrow spots widened and its steeper areas made gentler. There will also be a drive to improve the information and assistance available to skiers and snowboarders at first aid stations. With already over 2000 snow cannons on the piste you would think the 3 valleys ski area had enough snow cannons, another 13 snow cannons are being added to the ski slopes, just to make sure that the snow conditions are good regardless of the weather.

Courchevel lift:

Once the fastest chairlift in the world; the Courchevel chair lift will be replaced by a 6 seater lift to increase capacity and decrease queue times.

Chairlift Safety:

Across several of the chair lifts a new safety feature is being added; the magnestick bar locks the chair lift safety bar after departure and prevents skiers and snowboarders from opening the chair lift safety bar before reaching the arrival area. There is also magnestick kids, which through a magnetic back protector attaches children to the chair lift during the ride from one station to another.

New runs in Val Thorens:

There is now a fourth Funitel lift, this is to allow skiers access to two new runs: a red run (les Asters) and a blue run (le Chocard).

So now you've seen all the improvements you can understand why Meribel ski resort and the 3 valleys ski area is a world class destination, if you haven't already booked your ski break or ski holiday this year, why not book a skiweekends ski trip to Meribel ski resort, check out our dates and prices to see when would be best for you to go.
