Saas Fee

Ski area

The ski area of Saas-Fee although not as extensive as nearby Zermatt is ample for a weekend skiing. It suits beginners and intermediates best and offers wide well-groomed pistes for long cruising runs. Gradients range from gentle blues, to slightly steeper reds but blacks are in short supply so the mileage hungry may struggle here. That said, the impressive 1800m vertical descent from the tops to the village offer an impressive test of stamina. With a glacier and exceptionally high altitude runs, Saas-Fee guarantees snow relaibility and is a sure to become a weekend skiers favourite.

The resort

Saas-Fee offers a spectacular setting amid high peaks and glaciers.  From the south end of the village the restaurant terraces offer stunning views up to the ring of 4000m high peaks. It's narrow car-free streets and old chalet buildings means it retains the feel of a high altitude mountain village rather than that of a conspicuous ski resort. In essence it is a beautiful and charming with plenty of good eating and drinking places you would expect in Switzerland. The exceptionally high altitude ensures snow reliability, perfect for a weekend ski break. Transfers may be by train, bus or private/shared bus/min-bus. In resort service is provided by your hotelier, there is no Skiweekends representative in resort.
