Find out more about our team below.

Dan Fox Managing Director of Ski Weekends

Meet... Dan Fox, Managing Director and Co-owner

Dan has been passionate about the mountains since he first skied with school in the 90’s. His love of the mountains has always been mirrored by the desire to encourage others to share the experience. Dan's premise is to treat everyone as if they were a member of his family.

In 2007 he grasped the ski poles of Ski Weekends, bringing 25 years of ski industry experience. Having lived and worked in France for 17 years he’s worked in more resorts than there’s space to list, but if pushed, would say: Chamonix for extremes, 3 Valleys for the miles, Val d’Isere for the apres and Portes du Soleil for the smiles!

Dan's career has taken him from Engineering to being a ski instructor and then heading overseas as a ski guide. He’s been in travel ever since, has managed chalets and hotels, contracted, bought and sold property, with his career progressing to General Manager for the French and Swiss Operations of Neilson and TUI.

Ski Weekends has been a way of life more than a job and it has resulted in a quadrupling of the business and ten times the number of resorts. Dan believes Ski Weekends should constantly strive to lead the short breaks market and his mission is to make sure everyone can get more time on the pistes!

This year Dan is celebrating 10 years of running Ski Weekends!

Meet... Sarah Fox, Sales Director/Co-owner

Sarah's first taste of skiing on snow was on a ‘Try a Day Ski' in Jasper, Canada during a road trip around the Rockies. Little did she know, this would be the start of what was to become a lifetime of talking, working and being obsessed with skiing! Sarah learnt to ski at university and has skied every year since. She skis at least once a month from December through to April, visiting Ski Weekends chalets and exploring new resorts for the company. Sarah loves that her job takes her to fantastic European ski destinations.

Sarah's first ski holiday was to Flaine, where she laughed from the time she got on the aircraft at Manchester airport to her return, a week later. She says she will never forget getting off the DMC at the top of the Flaine Bowl and looking out at the incredible scenery toward Mont Blanc. To top it all, she claims that apres ski was fantastic fun to! In terms of her favourite place to ski, Sarah refers with favour to her Kitzbuhel ski holidays. She loves the ski safari where you can ski from Kitzbuhel to Pass Thurn and claims it's easy to return to Kitz by bus after a few Gluhweins! She has been lucky enough to be in Kitzbuhel twice during the infamous Hahnenkamm race, when the town turns into one big friendly party and men on stilts throw chocolate at people! Sarah's favourite thing about Ski Weekends is skiing and learning about the many different ski resorts and their own unique cultures in Europe. She loves sharing this knowledge to help people book the right ski weekend.

Meet... Marianne Wanstall, Director of Operations

Marianne joined the Ski Weekends team in November 2013. Her career has been focused on the travel and tourism industry, with over 20 years of working in and running self-catering holiday businesses focused on holidays in both the UK and Europe, including working for companies such as Hoseasons and the National Trust.

As our Director of Operations, Marianne is responsible for overseeing our operational teams and processes, to ensure that all practical areas of activity are delivered so our guests enjoy a great holiday experience from start to finish. Half-French and bilingual, Marianne is well-placed to be a key point of contact with our hotel and other suppliers in France. She also has oversight of our product, finance and IT functions, as well as responsibility for our seasonal resort teams.

A life-long skier, Marianne once spent two years working in Geneva, during which time she skied in a number of French and Swiss resorts, in particular Méribel and the Three Valleys. However her favourite resort is the small village of Combloux, near Megève in France, with amazing views of the Mont Blanc, where she regularly enjoys time with friends and family, whilst accepting that her two teenage children can now definitely ski faster than her!

Meet... Simon Knowlton, Systems Manager

Simon has been at Ski Weekends for over 6 years and is about to embark on his 7th winter season with us. Initially part of the sales team Simon has moved over to the operations side of things in the last year to help ensure that your holiday runs smoothly.

Prior to working for Ski Weekends Simon has worked three winter seasons in France, as both a chalet host and resort rep. Resorts he has worked in include Tignes, La Plagne and Les Gets. His favourite resort is Les Gets due the vast ski area and traditional alpine feel.

Meet... Laura Robinson, Reservations Manager

Laura has been in the Travel Industry for over 20 years working with customers to find their perfect holiday. She started as a trainee with Hogg Robinson and worked her way up to managing a variety of teams. Laura is a beginner skier but has participated in a variety of winter sports from ice skating to husky sledging.

She has sold ski holidays for years and has always loved the mountains. She is very passionate about customer service and is passionate about the Ski Weekends team.

Meet... Leah Andrews, Marketing Executive

Leah is our Marketing Executive at Ski Weekends and looks after the company’s social media, website and external advertising. Leah joined Ski Weekends in January 2018 and has only been skiing once however she is keen to get back to the slopes this year. She has recently gained a City and Guilds Level 3 Digital Marketing qualification and is eager to learn more about Marketing at Ski Weekends.

Leah hopes to ski in Morzine this year for the full  Ski Weekends chalet experience!

Meet..... Imogen Davies, Sales Support

Immy is working towards an NVQ level 3 qualification in business administration with Ski Weekends and is a sales support administrator for the company. Immy’s job in sales support is a customer service based role, where she helps with sales calls, adding ski extras onto holidays and processing bookings.

Immy’s favourite place to ski is in the Portes du Soleil ski region, where she heads every year with her family. She’s been skiing there since she was young, and enjoys the access it has to the vast ski areas of Morzine, and Avoriaz (her favourite!) What Immy loves most about Portes du Soliel is the fact that you can ski in both France and Switzerland in one week – border hopping with your ski’s on is pretty awesome, we have to agree!

Immy’s idea of a perfect piste is a nice cruisy blue with wide open spaces where she can stay away from any hazardous skiers and is happiest when she’s got a nice blue sunny sky – she’s tackled a few blacks in her time but claims she will never do them again! She describes herself as a 'careful, cautious skier who is slow and steady and aware of her surroundings' so you won't have to worry about her bombing past you on the slopes this season!

When immy is not cautiously making her way down a run or taking calls in the office, she enjoys exotic holidays and participating in a range of sports.

Meet Jake Morris....Ski Expert

Jake is part of the ski expert team at Ski Weekends – and he really is a ski expert! Growing up in France for 5 years (one of which was spent in Albertville in the alps), Jake skiied in his PE lessons, taking part in downhill one week and cross country the next! Throughout the rest of his childhood he also grew up skiing in the French resort of Les Saises where his aunty owns a chalet.

Jake is an experienced seasonnaire, having worked two ski seasons in the alps. He spent one season working in Reberty and the other in Le Bettex near Les Menuires and has worked as a transfer driver and chalet host.

His favourite place to ski is La Masse in the Three Valleys as it’s not over-crowded. His favourite type of skiing is a bit of off piste with his friends when they are pushing each other to their limits and seeing what new tricks they can pull off!

Jakes favourite thing about working at Ski Weekends is being able to talk about skiing all day and the Ski Weekends team he gets to work with! In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing rugby and travelling – having recently returned from a trip to Canada, Iceland and the USA. He has also impressively cycled around Rwanda for charity.

Meet Charlie Robbins....Ski Expert

Charlie is one of our ski experts and has been skiing since a young age and quickly caught the ski bug from her school trips! Charlie loved school ski trips so much that she did her first ski season helping out with other school trips, helping to organise the fun evening entertainment!

After a short stint at university, Charlie realised her true passion and decided to save up for an ski instructor course in Mont Tremblant. After returning to real life to become an accountant, it seemed that the call of the mountains was just too strong, and she realised that all she wanted to do was ski and went back to the Alps, working for ski Olympic as a ski host in La Plagne. Her favourite place to ski is Espace Killy for the great off-piste.

If she's not sky high in the mountains, you might find her riding the waves at Watergate Bay on the south coast. Away from work, Charlie is a qualified yoga instructor after completing a yoga instructor course in Goa.

Meet Alex Hutchins....Ski Expert

Alex joined the Ski Weekends team as a ski expert, and is a keen member of the sales team. Alex has been "attempting" to learn to ski for 8 or 9 years and has been snow-ploughing the slopes of Europe ever since. King of the snow plough, he claims to have truly mastered a fantastic 'pizza' technique – give him any run and he will get down it in a snowplough!

His favourite resort is Chamonix, although he’s spent more time at Hemmel Hempstead snow centre than actually in the Alps! Alex says he’s ready to learn how to parallel his way to the nearest restaurant or bar so he can grab a beer! Alex’s perfect piste is a green tree lined run down the mountain but he’s happy to ski in any conditions, as long as it's not icy.

When Alex is not on the runs or selling you a ski holiday in the office, he is partial to a pub quiz or two and enjoys playing football.

His favourite thing about working at Ski Weekends is speaking to people about lots of different ski resorts and sharing his enthusiasm for the mountains with his customers. Alex is committed to finding customers ideal trip and getting people on fantastic ski holidays.

Meet Vicki Cheal....Ski Expert

Vicki has permanently re-joined the Ski Weekends sales team, after working a seasonal role here in the office in 2013. Her first ever ski trip was for her 21st birthday (many years ago!) to Arinsal in Andorra and she has enjoyed skiing ever since. She completed two winter seasons in 1999/2000 and 2000/2001, working for the First Choice admin office in the Courchevel and the Val D'Arly ski areas. Since then, she has worked for two other French ski tour operators and has a huge total of 10 winter sales seasons under her belt. Now she has entered the world of motherhood she enjoys taking her son Harry skiing. They enjoyed a holiday to Flaine in April 2016 and Isola 2000 in April 2018 and are looking forward to many more ski trips together in the future.

In any spare time Vicki manages to find, she enjoys running, playing Netball and working as an Avon distributor. Vicki's favourite thing about working at Ski Weekends is being able to talk about skiing all day long and the great team she is surrounded by!

Meet Helen Davis....Sales Admin and Support

Helen recently joined the ski weekends team as a sales administrator after working as a deputy reservations manager at Solent Hotel and Spa. Helen’s role at Ski Weekends includes supporting the sales team, helping them to process add-ons to bookings and directly helping Ski Weekends customers.

Helen first learnt to ski when her mum and dad took her away as a child. Her dad fell in love with skiing from their first trip and turned every further holiday into a ski holiday. Helen spent her childhood skiing in Austria, in Kolsass Weer and Mayerhofen, meeting up with Austrian friends and skiing as a family. She now enjoys teaching her own children to ski, and is having to accept that although they are still learning, they are becoming pretty accomplished on the slopes. Helen’s mum and dad have an apartment in the alps in France so she is lucky enough to be able to stay there for her ski holidays every year.

In Helen's spare time she enjoys spending time with family, and occasionally helping her parents with their paintballing business.

Meet Sophie Hesme....Operational Support Admin

Sophie works at Ski Weekends as an operational support administrator and is the main point of contact between Ski Weekends and our hotels across Europe. Sophie is French, growing up in the country and moving to the UK in 2011 for university. As a modern language graduate from the University of Southampton, Sophie speaks French, English, Spanish, Italian and is a beginner in German.

Sophie grew up in France in between Nogent Sur Marme and Nice and learnt to ski when she was 6 in Courchevel 1850 as her Grandad owned a flat there. She has skied ever since and tries to get out to the Alps at least once a year with her family.

Sophies favourite thing about working at Ski Weekends is the contact she gets to have with the suppliers and the fact she gets to utilise her language skills.
