Alpe d'Huez: The guide

18 October 2008
The region of Alpe d'Huez (ADH) has long been a favourite with holidaymakers attracted by its varied ski terrain and year-long sunshine, reports the Telegraph.

From beginners wanting to take to the slopes for the first time to intermediate skiers looking to brush up on their skills – the area has something to suit everyone.

Travel writer Gabriella Le Breton claims ADH offers excellent off-piste action in addition to the longest piste in the Alps.

Once at the top of the mountains, peckish skiers can pacify their hunger at one of many mountain restaurants, though booking may be wise mid-week when the area can get crowded.

Meanwhile, the picturesque and charming town of Vaujany offers visitors alpine authenticity and some great skiing terrain.

According to Vaujany.co.uk, the town has its own sports complex, complete with 25-metre swimming pool, gym, spa and children's play area.
