Avoriaz is 'top' snowboarding destination

31 December 2008
The French resort of Avoriaz has been singled out as one of the top snowboarding destinations in the world.

According to the Telegraph, the resort, which is also popular with those taking short ski holidays, boasts an impressive range of terrain and is an excellent destination for those looking to jet off this winter.

The resort was designed in the 60s and was one of the first places to have an area dedicated to snowboarding.

"It is also home to a great array of terrain parks while Burton, the snowboard manufacturer, has created one of its five "The Stash" parks here. Also on offer are quad-biking, snowmobiling and climbing," the Telegraph said.

Avoriaz also forms part of the Les Portes du Soleil ski area and is linked to other popular resorts such as Les Croisets and Morzine.

Meanwhile, it was reported earlier this week that despite the credit crunch, excellent ski conditions across Europe have led to a surge in demand for cheap winter breaks.
