Morzine - Avoriaz gets a new lift..after 50 years!

05 July 2012

It’s only taken 50 years, but finally the ancient Prodain lift in Morzine, which links Morzine to Avoriaz ski area is being replaced. Construction starting in the spring, and is expected to be completed by the start of the new ski season in December, just in time for the first ski weekends coach trip of the season.

The new lift is to replace the 50 year old téléphérique which took 65 skiers per journey, and the new telecabin will be made up of 12 cabins that can hold 35 skiers each, meaning 2000 people can be transported per hour, rather than the current 990. This will offer huge improvements to the Morzine and Avoriaz ski area, enabling quicker access to the slopes during a short Ski holiday.
