There is plenty to discover on ski weekends in Morzine, as one winter sports enthusiast recently revealed following a trip to the Portes du Soleil resort.

Laurence Mackin, writing for the Irish Times, said that many people may make the mistake of only visiting the popular bars and restaurants in the centre of the area, even though there are plenty of excellent establishments tucked away and well worth a visit.

On a recent visit, he met up with a frequent visitor to Morzine who showed him some of the little eateries that serve fantastic local food and said his opinion of the resort rose even further.

"I've been to Morzine several times but this was an eye opener. Little huts I had blitzed past turn out to be cosy stops for hearty food or coffee and cake. Small runs in the trees that I had previously avoided are some of the best runs of the weekend," Mr Mackin added.

Recently, Dave Watts and Chris Gill, the Daily Telegraph's resident travel writers, noted that the Portes du Soleil area is less expensive than the major European ski destinations and is therefore a good option for those who are in search of thrills but not willing to pay high prices.

Fantastic Bargain Ski Holidays in Portes du Soleil.
