When people are planning ski holidays in France they should consider flying to the slopes of Morzine, where visitors will find lots of ways to save money, an expert has claimed.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph this week, professional skier James Woods said Brits can fly to the nearest airport, Geneva, before jumping on a one-hour shuttle bus, or even drive from the UK to save money on travel.

Mr Woods added there is "plenty" of cheap accommodation for people on ski holidays in Morzine, as well as supermarkets for self-catering guests to stock up on low-cost food and drink.

He advised: "The terrain is huge – you can ski for days without doing the same run twice. Ski into Switzerland on the Swiss Wall – it's a pretty steep run but there's also an easier option that runs alongside it."

Meanwhile, the Independent has reported this week that Portes du Soleil, the closest major ski area to Geneva airport, is perfect for ski holidays with the family.
