Tour de France Rides Into Morzine

Stage 8 of the 20 tour stages, rides from Station de Rousses arriving in the popular French ski holiday resort of Morzine.  After 189km there will be a high altitude finishing line at Avoriaz.

July 12th will be a rest day spent in the lovely ski holiday town, Morzine. This authentic Savoy village, situated at an altitude of 1,000 m, has maintained its charm thanks to traditional architecture made of wooden chalets, with roofs often made of local slate. At the heart of the Portes du Soleil (the gates to the sun) and their 650 km of ski slopes. Morzine is ideal for all winter sports, such as a skiing holiday, for a week or a weekend short ski break(one hour transfer from Geneva airport).

Stage 9 of the tour on July 13th is the main Alpine stage, with the Col de la Colombière pass via Le Reposoir, the Col des Aravis pass, Les Saisies and the Col de la Madeleine pass.  A final downhill will take the riders out of the high mountains arriving at Sain Jean de Maurienne after a 204.5 KM stage.
