People heading on cheap ski breaks to Morzine this winter will be pleased to see that the snow has begun to fall, according to one source.

James Fisher, writing for, said that the many restaurants and apartments in Morzine town have been covered by a veil of snow which marks the first time this season that conditions look perfect for skiing.

"There is still a thin layer of the fresh stuff in Les Gets and the clouds are sitting low over Morzine keeping the temperatures low at 1,100m and preserving the snow that has fallen there," he pointed out.

Mr Fisher added that the official opening time for bargain ski holidays in Portes du Soliel is still December 12th, but early snow last year led to the resort opening early, so there is a chance the same will happen in 2009.

People heading on bargain ski holidays to Morzine this year will be able to try out a number of new cafes, including the deli bar Berits and Brown and the wine bar Cox, each providing plenty of apres ski refreshments.
