People heading on skiing holidays this year should ensure that they have budgeted correctly before setting off in order to have the best possible time, one expert has said.

Steve Williams, head of travel insurance at, said that having enough money before setting off is essential, but people can make sure that they do not pay through the nose by choosing a resort which is not over-priced in the first place.

"Looking at the extras people will have to pay, once they get there, gives us an idea of where the French financial hotspots for skiers are. People need to budget correctly to ensure all they need is affordable once they have arrived," Mr Williams explained.

Meanwhile, John Hill, editor of Good Ski Guide, recently told the Metro that people heading away to Morzine and other top resorts should consider travelling by coach in order to save money.
