People can still enjoy cheap ski holidays despite the pound being weak against the euro, one writer has stated.

Peter Hardy, writing for the Telegraph, said that skiers may find prices in some European resorts are high, but they can combat this by buying lots of elements of the holiday ahead of their travels.

"The trick is to buy as many of the essential extras, such as ski passes, lessons and childcare, in pounds before you leave home," he added.

In addition, the newspaper said that booking a ski-drive break can be the best way to get cheap ski holidays, especially if booking the channel crossing as part of a package.

Picking the timing of the break is also crucial, with Mr Hardy saying that Christmas, New Year and the February half-term are the peak periods which should be avoided if possible.

April and Easter are recommended for those tied to the school holidays, as many of the high resorts will still have good snow conditions.

Those looking for a good location should head to La Plagne, which was recently recommended by the Best Place to Visit blog, as it has many attractions to keep people entertained.
