Get covered before going on cheap ski breaks

People heading on cheap ski breaks should make sure they are covered by a good travel insurance policy, one company has warned.

Holidays-Direct.co.uk said that travellers need to be particularly careful with valuable like passports and money and ensure they are covered for loss.

Among the organisation's top tips are giving details of flights and passport numbers to a friend staying at home, making copies of your passport and make sure all expensive items are covered under travel insurance.

Jon Pearce, marketing manager of Holidays-Direct.co.uk, said: "Be wise and think about your possessions when you're taking pictures and enjoying a coffee in a café, before you get distracted, know where your possessions are and keep tight hold of them."

His advice follows comments from travel expert Fred Mawer, writing for the Daily Mail, who said that it is "cruicial" to ensure you have enough cover for your cheap ski break.

He added that the European Health Insurance Card is of limited use to skiers as it does not cover mountain rescue or treatment in private clinics.
