People heading on ski weekends for the first time may find that Morzine is the perfect place to develop their skills, one source has claimed.

Writing for the Scotsman, Alan Greenwood recalled a recent trip to the resort which was his first ever time skiing and said it involved a crash course in winter sports.

Over the course of a couple of days, he learnt the basics of skiing and put them into practise on some of the resort's gentler slopes – which he said were perfect for beginners.

"But, with the benefit of some patient instruction, three days proved enough time for your clod-hopping, middle aged correspondent to find his feet, learn the basics and tackle some of the resort's easiest runs," Mr Greenwood said.

Recently, a post on the Metro Snow blog noted that the drive into Morzine rivals anywhere in Europe, with snow-capped peaks sitting beside traditional wooden chalets, while the glistening slopes beckon all winter sports enthusiasts.
