Skiing games on the Nintendo Wii are persuading many people that they have what it takes to do the real thing on a ski holiday, it has been claimed.

Dave Morris, resort manager of the New Generation Ski School in Courchevel, told the Metro that computer games are enhancing the popularity of skiing holidays but this should not convince people that they have the skills to cope on the slopes.

"There is no substitute for the real experience of skiing or snowboarding in the mountains and simulations on games consoles cannot conceivably replicate the real thing," he said.

Mr Morris said that people who have played skiing games, such as the one on Wii Fit, should try the real thing to see what they are missing.

Meanwhile, a recent post on the Chalets Direct Ski blog stated that skiing holidays in Courchevel are popular with people of all ages and abilities.
