People heading away on short ski holidays in the coming weeks are being advised to be safe on the slopes.

More Than has released new figures showing that over 500,000 Brits may ski while still feeling the after-effects of alcohol this year and the company has advised them to make sure it has left their system before taking to the pistes.

Pete Markey, a spokesperson for More Than, pointed out that people would not drink and drive and advised those on skiing holidays to follow the same principles when on the slopes.

"If you do plan to drink on your skiing holiday, buy a mini pocket breathaliser and take it with you so you know when you're safe to ski (they're cheap and readily available)," he said.

Meanwhile, the Ski Club of Great Britain has launched a new campaign to persuade those heading to resorts such as Isola 2000 to take out travel insurance to provide extra peace of mind.
