Skiing holidays in Chamonix are ideal for beginners or experts, with one recent visitor saying that it has got her hooked on the sport.

Charlotte Hull, writing for the Sun, said that her long weekend in the French resort showed her why it is renowned as one of the world's best.

She said that her beginner lessons offered her the basics, but more experience skiers can take part in an off-piste course.

Another activity on offer on skiing holidays in Chamonix is paragliding, while snowshoeing is also a fun way to get around at night.

Ms Hull recommended Les Vieilles Luges restaurant off a ski slope at Les Houches, saying that the 14th century chalet has the tastiest cheese fondue ever.

"So if the British weather hasn't put you off the white stuff completely, a trip to Chamonix could be just what you need to keep those winter blues at bay," she added.

Matthew Dale, a chalet owner in the area, recently told the Guardian that La Petite Kitchen is ideal for people on skiing holidays in Chamonix as it does great breakfasts and has reasonable prices.
