People aiming to ski by coach this winter should consider a trip to Zermatt, because of its spectacular views, experts have said.

Chris Gill and Dave Watts, writing for the Daily Telegraph, said the resort is an excellent place for winter sports fans who are looking to savour stunning sights while on their cheap ski holiday.

The specialists added that breaks in the resort "usually involve long walks", as guests cannot help but explore the area's many bars, restaurants and shops while savouring the spectacular sights.

They concluded: "The village is a mixture of ancient barns, chocolate-box chalets, grand 19th-century hotels and modern buildings. Does it deserve five stars? On the whole, yes. At quieter times and in quieter parts, the place is magical."

Meanwhile, Abbey recently conducted a study which analysed how cost-effective each of Europe's top ski resorts were and found that Zermatt was one of the least expensive.
