People heading on cheap ski holidays to Brides Les Bains this season will be advised about the dangers of drinking and skiing, thanks to a new campaign.

An initiative launched by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will see resorts in France, Switzerland and Italy all aiming to inform winter sports enthusiasts that they should not attempt to ski back to their accommodation after a night of drinking.

The scheme will help to make the slopes in resorts such as Brides Les Bains even safer, said Peter Westmacott, the British ambassador in Paris, but he stressed that people's enjoyment will not be hampered.

"What may seem a normal amount in normal circumstances can be dangerous at high altitude," he told the Times.

Meanwhile, those in search of great nightlife while on skiing holidays may wish to take a trip to Meribel, as SkyScanner recently hailed its wide range of bars and restaurants.
