BA Change their Baggage Policy

07 August 2009
Given that the weight allowance will be only 23kg, chances are that you'll have to pay excess baggage charges and whilst this may help BA in these troubled times, it may alienate budget-conscious skiers. Travellers going to European destinations will be looking at paying in the region of an additional £28 for luggage weighing up to 32kg if checked in online, or £35 if checked in at the airport.

BA state: "Our free checked baggage allowance is still very generous and we retain a very generous hand baggage allowance - one of the most generous in the industry. The airline's baggage charges are comparable with and in many cases cheaper than other airlines'.

This change also brings additional benefits as the reduced aircraft weight allows us to save fuel and lessen our impact on the environment.

These are tough economic times and many other airlines already charge for baggage and the benefit of carrying sporting equipment."

There are alternatives to flying of course: SkiWeekends.com specialises in offering ski weekends and ski weeks by coach, a time and cost-efficient way to go skiing.
