People on skiing holidays to Chamonix should head to La Petite Kitchen for brunch and Chambre Neuf for an after-ski drink, according to an insider.

Matthew Dale, a chalet owner in the area, gave the Guardian his tips on the top places in the resort, adding that La Petite Kitchen has reasonable prices and a great full English breakfast.

Another tip from the resident is to visit Les Vieilles Luges for lunch while on skiing holidays in Chamonix, which is accessed by a track in the woods. Mr Dale said that the menu is small but has some great local treats.

Regarding his best skiing area, the chalet owner said that it is difficult to pick, as different areas suit alternative abilities. However, he said that the lift at La Flégère is "difficult to beat" as the runs are "long and challenging" while the off piste runs are "sublime".

Mr Dale's views on skiing holidays in Chamonix have recently been backed up by the Smarter Air Charter, which listed the area in its top three resorts on the planet.
