More people are using indoor slopes in the UK to prepare for their ski holidays in France, with the centres now offering a more realistic experience.

Ben Clatworthy, writing for Planet Ski, said that a recent visit to an indoor slope showed that they have much improved from dry slope skiing on "rather odd white plastic".

Pete Gillespie, director of snowsports at the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, told the source that there has been a "huge increase" in people using the slopes.

"This increase in participation is largely due to the superb facilities, snow conditions and teaching now on offer in the UK," he added.

However, Mr Clatworthy said that while the slopes are great for getting practice or training to be an instructor, they cannot compete with the excitement of the Alps and ski holidays in France.

Going to indoor slopes before heading to ski holidays in France can help to reduce the costs of the holiday, as less instruction is needed while away.
