Zermatt's restaurants 'keep getting better'

The number of fine restaurants in Zermatt continues to increase, with four more included in the Gault Millau culinary guide for the 2010-11 ski season.

Last year, people on ski weekends in the resort could choose from 13 restaurants in Zermatt which were officially recognised in the prestigious index, but this year 17 establishments have made the list.

Sonnmatten restaurant, the Gault Millau 'Shooting Star' of the season Hotel Cervo, mountain eatery Chez Vrony and the Lounge/Al Bosco in the Riffelalp Resort are the newcomers on the list.

In this year's guide, the highest number of points in the village was received by Capri in the Mont Cervin Palace, which achieved 16 points, and was praised as the best Italian restaurant in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, a post on said that Zermatt is a fine choice for those wanting to take a trip to the Alps, with more than 183km of pistes on three linked ski areas that stretch 3,820m.
