Before heading on skiing holidays, winter sports fans should make sure they do their exercises to get in shape.

Stefan Palm, a Pure Powder ski guide, told the Times that rollerblading and mountain biking are the ideal activities to get your legs working, but should be combined with muscle toning to avoid aching limbs when on skiing holidays.

Speaking about the sports, the expert added: "Both of these work your bottom and thighs and are also good for position, balance and control."

People planning to go off piste while on their skiing holidays do not need to change their traditional skiing positions. However, Mr Palm advised them to practice by including lots of variety in their training, from short turns to a few bumps.

Those who are heading off on a skiing holiday in four weeks have the perfect amount of time to train for their break, according to fitness expert Sonia Palecek. She told the Times that Pilates and improving core strength will help.
