People heading on short ski holidays this winter have been offered tips to help them save money.

Foreign exchange company Caxton FX gave advice to winter sports enthusiasts ahead of the main season, stating that choosing dates carefully may be the best way of cutting down on costs.

The firm recommended that young professionals and groups going on cheap ski breaks should seek to travel in January or at a time when children will not be on half term, as prices are likely to be lower.

It added that arranging ski passes and equipment hire before setting off on ski holidays in France may also help to lower potential expenditure, as well as staying in some of the lesser-known resorts where the price of food and drink may be higher.

Meanwhile, a recent post on the Mount Vacation blog recommended that people who prefer a wide range of choice when on short ski holidays should consider heading to Isola 2000 or Brides Les Bains.
