Enjoy an 'eventful' ski holiday in France

21 November 2008
Britons visiting the Paradiski area in the French Alps will find plenty to keep them occupied this season.

The area, which comprises the resorts of Les Arcs, La Plagne and Peisey Vallandry, is one of Europe's most popular destinations for short ski holidays.

Some of the events taking place over the coming months include the Les Etoiles du Sport, which kicks off on December 13th and features a host of famous French sports stars competing against each other in a series of fun competitions.

Meanwhile, those taking a ski break in January can La Gorzderette meeting, which takes place on January 24th and 25th.

La Gorzderette is a celebration of winter sports and features ice climbing, free skiing and big air snowboard competitions.

Figures released by search engine Skyscanner earlier this week revealed that Britons are shunning trips to the US in favour of bargain ski holidays in Europe.

Barry Smith, Skyscanner's co-founder and director of business development, said that the number of people searching for long-haul flights has fallen by 15 per cent in the last year, while traffic relating to European destinations is "still very strong".ADNFCR-1958-ID-18890281-ADNFCR
