Proposals in place for La Plagne revamp

Proposals have been put forward to revamp the French ski resort of La Plagne, it has been reported.

According to, a meeting and public debate was held recently, with over 100 local property owners in attendance.

"The proposals for the centre presented by architect Corinne Maironi, include stone floors, wooden cladding, ceiling lighting and large shop windows all with the aim of making the centre, safe, bright and welcoming," the site stated.

Plans were also proposed to upgrade the Place Pierrere and snow front area, with costings expected to be presented by the end of April.

One of Europe's most popular ski areas, La Plagne comprises six high-altitude resorts and four mountain villages, including Plagne Montalbert, Champagney en Vanoise and Les Coches.

A free shuttle bus service links all of La Plagne's resorts and as well as skiing, holidaymakers can explore the area by taking guided tours and snowshoe trails.
