People heading to Europe's top ski resorts in the near future have plenty of opportunities for fine dining, with many Michelin-starred venues in operation across the continent.

However, one resort which stands out above most for those who love great food is Chamonix, home to Seven restaurants which share a total of 11 Michelin stars.

These eateries provide some of the best opportunities for fine dining on the planet and may soon be joined by two more establishments, as the 2011/12 season sees the opening of two more exciting venues – L'Adret and Les Consorts.

L'Adret is the patois word for the sunny side of the mountain and this is where people on ski holidays in Chamonix will be able to sample a new form of cuisine.

The mountain restaurant at the Flegere serves a huge variety of tasty dishes, with farmhouse cuisine including fondues, hot stone bakes, potato fritters and a dish of the day.

In addition, there is a new snack bar called Tendance Foehn, which serves convenience food such as take-away paninis, bagels and pasta.

Les Consorts is located in the middle of the slopes on the Balme ski area, set in a converted farmhouse that has been carefully renovated.

It now houses a restaurant seating up to 50 diners, with an additional terrace overlooking the entire valley and serving traditional cheese and potato dishes, grills and brasserades.

The fine restaurants in Chamonix will not necessarily leave people on ski weekends out of pocket, either.

Each year, Michelin awards restaurants a Bib Gourmand for providing excellent food at moderate prices and this year Chamonix's Cafe de l'Arve is among the recipients.

Cafe de l'Arve is the only eatery in the Haute Savoie region to receive the Bib Gourmand this year, with chefs Julien Binet and Mickey Bourdillat praised for their hard work.
