A restaurant in Chamonix has been given a Michelin prize in the latest restaurant guide in recognition of its value for money.

Each year, Michelin awards restaurants a Bib Gourmand for providing excellent food at moderate prices and in 2011 Chamonix's Cafe de l'Arve is among the recipients, reported.

"To qualify restaurants must offer menu items priced below a specific amount, normally determined by local prices. The word Bib comes from Bibendum, which is the company's nickname for the Michelin Man," the website stated.

The award means that Cafe de l'Arve is the only eatery in the Haute Savoie region to receive the Bib Gourmand this year, with chefs Julien Binet and Mickey Bourdillat praised for their hard work.

Meanwhile, according to the Lodge Atotter Creek blog, Chamonix enjoys reliable snowfall over the winter and so holidaymakers can travel to the resort almost any time between late November and late April to take advantage of the great conditions.
