The heavy snowfall across the Alps in recent days and weeks has ensured that skiing conditions in resorts such as Chamonix will be perfect all the way through to May, according to one source.

A recent snow report by skiing correspondent Claire Burnet revealed that Chamonix received another metre of snow earlier this week, taking snow depths to around five metres.

She explained: "Some of the deepest snow this century is sure to leave the slopes in great condition right up to May, even if it stops snowing now - and there's no sign of that."

Ms Burnet added that snow depths on the slopes in the Chamonix valley now vary between two metres at the base up to 4.6m at the top, meaning people heading on ski weekends in the months ahead can be sure of fantastic skiing conditions.

Recently, Chamonix Snow Report said it is many years since the snow conditions in Chamonix were so perfect, with crisp runs providing the perfect way to schuss and slalom down the mountain.
