People heading to Les Houches in the coming days will find that January is the perfect time to enjoy ski holidays in the resort, one source has asserted.

Adam Ruck, writing for the Daily Telegraph, said that winter sports enthusiasts who prefer to have the slopes to themselves will find that the period after New Year's Eve is the best time to hit the runs in Les Houches itself and nearby Chamonix.

He explained that Les Houches is also an excellent place for non-skiers to visit during this time, as there are plenty of other activities taking place to keep people entertained.

Mr Ruck stated: "The best tree skiing is on friendly woodland pistes above Les Houches or off-piste in the forest at Argentiere. And if the sun shines on plentiful snow, January skiers can fill their boots, tackling heroic descents of more than 6,000 ft from top to bottom."

Recently, a post on the Europe Up Close blog noted that people on ski weekends in Chamonix can sample the wonderful vistas in the region as well as the thrilling runs, which are among the finest on the continent.
