Snow Report For Christmas 2014

22 December 2014

The forecast is finally a good one!

After a slow start to the season we are keeping a careful watch on the forecast to keep you all updated. It looks like we are likely to get some snow for Christmas day, but by boxing day there will be snow on the way, on the 27th it will snow properly with up to 40cm forecast of a 24 hour period, then snow showers after that.

Meribel weather and snow report in 3 Valleys for Christmas skiing

The great news is that temperatures are being driven down with the freezing level dropping to the bottom of the valley for Christmas and then staying low, which not only means the snow that falls will stay but that the snow cannons can carry on topping up the levels too.

The isobaric chart (above) shows a significant LOW has finally build up in the North Sea, this has over powered the mid-Atlantic HIGH (now sitting on Portugal). The little red arrows show wind direction, each tail indicating 10Kts of wind speed.
