Impact of Brexit on Ski Companies

Of course we respect everyone is entitled to different views, in fact there is plenty of healthy debate here at SkiWeekends. What we do know is that many travel businesses like ours will be effected by leaving the EU. Thankfully we are flexible enough to adapt and change to the world within which we sell holidays and are large enough to weather the uncertainty of current times.  The travel industry has already experienced the impact since the referendum with the number of British citizens we employ of all ages in the EU having dropped significantly.  Many people in leadership roles, within the travel industry, did a season many years ago which has led to lifelong careers in travel and the creation of many holiday companies.  Over the years we have helped countless young people not only to fulfill their dreams of experiencing a ski season but also to develop many skills and grow in responsibility and confidence which has helped them find rewarding careers.

The travel industry employs approximately 25,000 UK citizens working in the EU.  We would like to see this continue and to ensure that both guests and employees alike have wonderful experiences in the mountains.  We believe that being in the EU will make this much easier & achievable.

Is it safe to book my ski holiday for Winter 2019/2020 now?

Absolutely! SkiWeekends is a fully ABTA/ATOL protected tour operator, meaning financial security and therefore peace of mind for our customers. As a result, our advance bookings for the 2019/20 season are already up on last year, so we really will be helping our customers to Be Happy and Ski More next winter.

Is there any chance the holiday I've booked will be cancelled?

Information from the Government and advisor bodies suggest business as usual following any Brexit deadline, including a no deal scenario. There is no obvious reason why holidays will be cancelled. Because of SkiWeekends being ABTA and ATOL bonded, customers who book a package holiday with us enjoy comprehensive consumer protection.

Will I need a Visa to Travel?

Even in the event of a no-deal situation, after we leave the EU, British passports will still be valid for travel from the United Kingdom to the European Union. The UK Government has recommended that for travel after 29th March 2019, your passport should have at least six months validity remaining.

Will my flight be cancelled?

ABTA has welcomed the UK Government's confirmation that flights will continue, even in a no-deal Brexit scenario. UK airlines will still operate flights between UK and EU. The Government has offered similar assurances for EU airlines. Therefore you can rest assured.
