Sarah Fox - Sales Director"A hidden gem of a resort, enjoy all the charm of the lovely traditional Pyrenean hospitality while skiing in a very up to date, well-organised ski area. Love the ski to Lac d l'oule"
Traditional, family friendly and charming, Saint-Lary is an authentic village that sits peacefully high up in the French Pyrenees. A firm favourite with French and Spanish families, this resort is a hidden gem, with quiet pistes throughout the week and a bustling French village with patisseries, shops and restaurants.
A popular resort for relaxation lovers, people looking to unwind should visit the thermal baths located just a few steps from the village, which are in the centre of a beautifully landscaped park complete with state-of-the-art facilities. You can also be pampered at Sensoria where you’ll find plenty of activities from the gym to beauty treatments and massages. If relaxing isn’t on your itinerary then the resort has plenty of other activities such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dog sledging, paragliding and the list goes on!
Accommodation in Saint-Lary is split between the main village and Saint-Lary 1700, both provide easy access to the slopes as you will find ski lifts and cable cars leading from the villages straight up to the mountain. Once the ski day has come to an end, people tend to gather in the bars at the top of the cable car at 1700 for a spot of apres ski before descending to the town.
SKI AREA OVERVIEW
Saint-Lary certainly has one of the most beautiful ski areas in the French Pyrenees. With nearly 30 lifts and 100km of slopes, there’s an abundance of varied terrain for ski weekenders to get their teeth stuck into. Saint-Lary is also a snow sure resort, with a decent annual snowfall and over 270 new snow guns, you can rest assured that pistes are consistently topped up.
There are three different areas in Saint-Lary; the first being Saint-Lary 1700. This is a base area with surrounding accommodation and is where the lifts depart from. Due to plenty of gentle terrain and two fully covered moving carpets, this an ideal area for kids to enjoy some snow-play and for beginner skiers to find their ski legs.
The second area is Saint-Lary 1900 which, with a selection of long wide cruisy blue and red runs, is classic intermediate skier territory - we especially recommend you ski the 3km Mirabelle and the Terranere which are two of the most popular runs in the resort! Advanced skiers will also enjoy some of the red and black runs through the trees which.
Over the ridge you’ll find the third and highest area in Saint-Lary 2400 which, at an altitude off 2000mm offers wide snow sure pistes and an abundance of sunshine! These slopes are above the treeline so skiers can enjoy wide open sunny cruisers. The views are fantastic from here and there are a few mountain restaurants which are also accessible to non-skiers and offer stunning 360 degree panoramic views.
- Super views and varried terrain makes Saint-Lary a popular destination for many - be sure to take it all in whilst you are there.
- Saint-Lary 1700 Pla d'Adet is known as the beginner/kids area with great terrain to learn the basics. As well as the other two ski areas, 1900 Espiaube and 2400 Vallon du Portet if you are up for a challenge and spectacular views.
- Looking for some relaxation? Visit the thermal baths in the village and get pampered at the state-of-the-art Sensoria for beauty treatments and massages.
- Enjoy the authentic, bustling French village and take advantages of the many patisseries, shops and restaurants.
