Ski Area Overview

Engelberg is situated between two mountains. The skiing in Engelberg takes place on either side of the town in the two separate mountains called Brunni Mountain and Mount Titlis, both of which are served by two separate lift systems.

The smaller mountain of the two is Brunni, it is home to sunny and gentle tree-lines slopes making it the perfect spot for beginners or early intermediates looking to build up their confidence. The larger Mount Titlis boasts challenging slopes, excellent off-piste and glacier skiing. You will find the world’s first rotating cable car on Titlis, so even the non-skiers should take a ride over the glacier and enjoy the fantastic views.

The resort has over 80km of piste with the longest run measuring 12km. It also includes the challenging 2000m descent from the Glacier and the famous Laub so Engelberg is a great choice for advanced skiers.

Intermediates will find plenty of reds and blues across both mountains with loads of off-piste opportunities easily accessible from the lifts. Beginners will be more than happy in the Brunni area located on the opposite side of the valley, there is also a couple of nursery slopes served by drag lifts.

With its high-altitude, excellent off-piste, north-facing slopes and a Glacier providing great snow reliability throughout the season, it’s a place not to be missed by skiers.

Escape to Engelberg

Take a look below at our breakdown to find out more information relevant to your ability.

Advanced

The endless off-piste opportunities and challenging on-piste makes Engelberg the perfect resort for advanced skiers. A definite must for skiers looking for a challenge is the descent from the Hohen Titlis, or the runs between Stand and Trubsee as they both have great terrain for advanced riders.

Intermediate

Early intermediates should find their snow legs on the gentle blues and reds of the south-facing slopes at Brunni. Once confident, intermediates should head up to the red runs on the Titlis Glacier and enjoy the stunning vies across central Switzerland.

Beginner

Beginners will find plenty of suitable, sunny slopes in the ski area Brunni. It is a great place for beginners to really practice their skills as slopes here tend to be quieter than those on Titlis. There are also some gentle runs on the Gerschnialp and an excellent local ski school.

Snowboarder

Absolute beginner snowboarders should stick to the gentle slopes at Gerschnialp. Intermediates and advanced boarders should find some great slopes from Trubsee and the blue runs from the Jochstock heading down to the Engstlenalp. There is also a terrain park located at the base area of the Jochstock ski lift. For advanced boarders, head for the off-piste* from the Klein Titlis and Jochstock areas.

Off-piste*

Engelberg has some excellent off-piste opportunities with loads of glorious powder to track out until your legs can’t take any more. The resort boats five outstanding runs; The Laub, Sulz, Wendelucke, Steinberg and Galtiberg. Some of these off-piste areas are huge so always hire a guide before heading out.

* Ski Weekends strongly advise that off-piste skiing should only be undertaken when in the company of a professional ski instructor or guide.
