SKI Area
- Large, varied slopes offering skiing for everyone of all abilities with plenty of on and off-piste opportunities.
- Home to the world famous Hahnenkamm racecourse, one of the most challenging on the World Cup circuit – definitely one for the experts.
- 1.5km of night skiing is available on the Gaisberg until late at night. Night tobogganing also takes place here from Tuesday until Saturday.
- Advanced skiers will want to try the ‘Safari’ route which starts at the Hahnenkamm gondola and traditionally ends at Pass Thurn.
- Kitzbuheler Horn, also called the ‘sunny side’ can be reached by gondola and has some excellent cruising runs.
The Austrian Ski Resort of Kitzbuhel is undoubtedly one of the most popular ski resorts in the world. With 170km of perfectly groomed slopes, 53 cable cars and ski lifts and 155 days of snow it’s a resort that ticks all the boxes.
Whether you are an expert, intermediate or beginner everyone will find their perfect slope at Kitzbuhel. Pleasure skiers will love the wide slopes leading through the forest glades. Experts should try the famous Hahnenkamm course; some of the steep sections here are pretty savage and World Cup racers have accelerated to 60mph in the first section.
The sky’s the limit for intermediate skiers in Kitzbuhel. With 40% of the terrain suitable for intermediates, you will find ideal blue and red runs at every corner of the mountain. Intermediates up for a challenge should also try the famous World Cup downhill course – the Hahnenkamm. Beginners will find a handful of nursery slopes with beginner ski zones at the base of most ski areas.

Advanced
Expert skiers will want to test their skills on the Hahnenkamm Streif as it’s considered by many skiers to be the most testing of all racing pistes. Advanced skiers will find plenty of expert skiing in the Steinberg-kogel or Pengelstein areas as they all provide access to long black runs. If that’s not enough to challenge you then go cat skiing in the Bichlalm ski area.
Intermediates
Intermediates are in their element at Kitzbuhel, with swooping red runs and cruisy blues. Confident intermediates should try the exhilarating descents of the Kitzbuheler Horn and the Barenbachkogel. As well as plenty of challenging pistes, there is a collection of blue runs in the Pengelstein area which offers some of the resorts best conditions.
Beginners
Beginners will find a handful of nursery slopes here with beginner ski zones at the base of the ski areas and long green runs in the Gaisberg ski area. Wide open nursery slopes can be found at the bottom of the Hahnenkamm gondola, close to the town centre which provides a great introduction to skiing. There are some great wide, confidence building blues in The Kitzbuheler Horn.
Snowboarders
Snowboarders are well looked after in Kitzbuhel. The KitzSki Snowpark has been in constant development over the last few years and features a range of obstacles, kickers and rails for those of all abilities. There are some fabulous off-piste opportunities at the Kitzbuhel Horn which provides amazing freeride possibilities with channels and hidden tree runs.
Off Piste*
If you dream about ploughing through moguls and exploring adventurous off-piste then the Ehrenbachhohe is not one to be missed. You can also find some good off-piste around the Hahnenkamm area in the trees and on the Kitzbuheler Horn you can usually find good ungroomed snow near the Eggl draglift.
