PLACES FOR LUNCH

Whilst the food may not be as lavish as the neighbouring Val d’Isere, Tignes certainly offers far better value for money and a great range of well-run restaurants. Up on the mountain, there is a great selection of restaurants to choose from. Whilst you can head over to Val d’Isere for a spot of lunch, it is well worth looking closer to home for some superb mountain restaurants. As the name suggests, Le Panoramic at the top of the Grande Motte Funicular offers a wonderful 360-degree panoramic view of the area. With a large terrace that is often caked in sunshine, you have the option to use the self-service restaurant which offers pasta dishes and other meals, or head into the gourmet restaurant to experience a whole range of local specialities.

For those simply looking for a quick snack, then head to the aptly named ‘Snacky’s’ in Val Claret by the ‘Tufs’ chairlift. With a great selection of paninis, burgers, pasta dishes, hot dogs and more it makes for a great meal if you want to save time and money. Another restaurant to try is Lo Soli at the top of the Chaudannes lift which comes out of Le Lavachet. This restaurant has had some great reviews over the past couple of seasons and offers some spectacular views from its terrace on a nice sunny day – be sure to try out their burgers!

PLACES FOR DINNER

The good thing about dining in Tignes is the wide variety of cuisine to choose from. From the pizzerias to a tex-mex diner, to fine dining establishments, they really do have it all. A great place to eat out, it is well worth using the free bus to hop between the villages and experience the different restaurants that each has to offer.

A resort favourite is the ‘Couloir Bar & Restaurant’ which can be found up in Val Claret. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, generated from the vibrant bar downstairs, which flows through the rustic restaurant. The Couloir has fantastic service, and the food offers incredible value for money - it’s gourmet style food, in particular, is of the highest quality. Once done with dinner, head downstairs to enjoy some live music and fine wine.

Another restaurant to try out in the evening is ‘Le Chalet’ which can be found at Le Campanules hotel in Tignes-le-Lac. This is a higher end restaurant in the resort and offers fine dining with a traditional alpine atmosphere and style. The food is absolutely delicious, and if you are looking for a romantic night out, then you need not look any further than 'Le Chalet'.
