Tignes Resort Guide

01 January 0001

Tignes is made up of several different areas, from Tignes les Breviers 1550 at the bottom all the way up to Val Claret at the head of the valley. The main area however is Tignes Le Lac, but all areas – apart from Tignes Les Brévières – are connected by a bus line. This bus runs 24-hours a day, every day of the week, though in the evenings this bus line does not include Tignes 1800. This does however mean that the resort is very accessible, and opens up a larger area to guests in the evenings for both drinking and eating.

Perhaps not one of the Alp's most aesthetically pleasing destinations – built originally for functionality as opposed to style - However, with recent developments, Tignes is fast becoming an attractive resort due to the emergence of more traditional alpine architecture and revamps of some of the existing buildings. If it is alpine charm that you are looking for, then Les Brévières or Tignes 1800 are the places to consider. Here, all the facilities you could possibly need are available including nearly 80 restaurants and around 50 bars and nightclubs so there is more than enough to keep you occupied off the slopes. Tignes also has a range of small supermarkets in the villages and some excellent designer shops, ideal for those who love to indulge in a spot of shopping on their ski holiday.

Also, with plenty of ski in/out accommodation in Val Claret and Tignes-le-Lac, Tignes is an extremely convenient resort that boasts some truly stunning views in the evening. For great views during the day though, be sure to make your way up the Grande Motte glacier via the chairlifts or the funicular for what is possibly the most spectacular panoramic view of the Alps.
