Powder skiing in Les Arcs

LES ARCS - THE RESORT

Les Arcs sits right on the edge of the Vanoise National Park. The superb setting provides some truly breath-taking views of the surrounding peaks and mountain landscapes that still linger in your memory long after your return. Les Arcs is a modern purpose built resort that is made up of 4 separate villages, due to its extensive and varied terrain, is an ideal choice for those seeking a ski holiday that offers an abundance of variety. With names that relate loosely to altitude; Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 are all linked and offer you doorstep access to the Paradiski ski area - one of the largest and best loved ski areas in the world. The terrain is really opened up by The Vanoise Express cable car, which allows you to explore the nearby resort of La Plagne - an ideal option for those that really want to stretch their ski legs! For those wishing to mix it up even further, however, day trips by car to Val d'Isere and Tignes are also possible from Les Arcs.

The Arcs are all conveniently linked by road and ski runs. Situated just above the tree line on a wide steep portion of the mountainside, both Arcs 1600 and 1800 are within 2 km of one another and overlook the beautiful town of Bourg St Maurice which, with a convenient railway link to Arc 1600, is well worth a visit. Toward the edge of the mountain ridge, consisting of six linked apartment blocks and surrounded by a cluster of newer chalets, Arcs 2000 sits rather separately. Just below Arcs 2000 is the newer village, Arcs 1950 which, with its more traditional alpine architecture, stands apart from the other Arcs and is perhaps a more aesthetically pleasing alternative that provides a somewhat traditional alpine feel to a ski weekend.
