Take a look below at our breakdown to find out more information relevant to your ability:

Advanced

Advanced skiers staying in Avoriaz will be able to benefit from the great red and black runs located in most corners of the Portes du Soleil. If you are staying local then head for the steep drops from the Hauts Forts secteur and spend the best part of your day testing out the black runs.  Expert skiers should also try out the Swiss Wall – one of the steepest, largest and bumpiest runs in Europe.

Intermediates

Avoriaz is the perfect playground for intermediates. Once you are comfortable skiing red and blue runs there are virtually limitless choices in the Portes du Soleil ski area. Intermediates exploring the Avoriaz/Super Morzine side of the resort should try out all the red and blue runs located around the Chavanette. For a warm up run, try the Bleue de Lac before taking the Express Choucas and Fornet Express to a whole field of reds; Alpages, Blanchot, Cubore, Patenaille and Lanches.

Beginners

Over half of the runs in the Portes du Soleil ski area are easy, so beginners will be able to enjoy the beautiful long runs which are perfect for practising and improving skills. Avoriaz is an ideal resort for beginners, there is a kids club in the centre of town, a beginners slope next to Le Chappelle Park and a range of blues suitable for absolute beginners or those

looking to build up their confidence. For the more advanced beginners, Avoriaz has some great gentle runs to progress on such as Proclou, Seraussaix, Qu’mont and Gernues.

Snowboarders

Avoriaz was one of Europe’s first resorts to fully welcome in snowboarders which is why it’s now seen as Europe’s leading snowboarding destination. There are six freestyle areas in Avoriaz; Snowpark de la Chappelle, Snowpark Arare, The Stash, L'il Stash, Burton Kids Parkway and the Superpipe. Chappelle is a park specially for beginners and Snowpark Arare is more for the intermediate/advanced snowboarder.

Off-piste*

Avoriaz offers one of the biggest areas for easy access off-piste. The high-altitude area is easily reached from most of the villages in Portes du Soleil. You can safely enjoy the freedom of the off-piste areas but these do get tracked out quickly. If you wish to explore untouched powder, then we recommend hiring a guide to show you all the best spots.

* Ski Weekends strongly advise that off piste skiing should only be undertaken when in the company of a professional ski instructor or guide.
