MORZINE - THE RESORT
Are you thinking about a ski weekend to Morzine, France? Regularly ranked as the most popular French ski destination among the Brits, Morzine is certainly doing something right and could be a good choice for your next ski fix.
Morzine is a beautiful resort in one of the world’s largest ski areas, the Portes du Soleil and is located only an hour away from Geneva. Set either side of a river, the centre of Morzine is actually on the west side of the resort close to the base of the local slopes it shares with Les Gets. With lots of small and medium-sized traditional wooden chalets lining the valley with their snow-covered roofs, Morzine holds a traditional Alpine charm that is scarcely seen in other resorts. Morzine is a lovely village which has a family friendly ambience to it whilst also managing to include some great bars to head to for a bit of après ski or later in the evening for a night out.
As quite a large and fairly spread out resort, there are efficient bus links that enable you to get around with considerable ease. The buses also reach down to Thonon-Les-Bains which is located at the foot of the mountains by Lake Geneva and makes for a lovely day out if you are looking for something to do away from the slopes.
Being so close to Geneva airport makes Morzine the ideal destination to maximise your ski time on a short break away. Finally, in such a beautiful location, it's true that ski resorts near Geneva don't come much better than Morzine.
