SKI Area

• At the foot of the 3 Valley’s ski resort (largest ski resort in the world), home to over 600km of ski slopes.

• Some of the best runs in the world, with plenty of long wide runs that are excellent for cruising down.
  
  
• Snowboarders paradise with the DC Area 43 terrain park and great off-piste across the whole of the 3 Valleys.
  
  
• A great choice between open and expansive high altitude skiing and skiing lower down between through the forests.

The Three Valleys ski area in the French Alps is the biggest linked ski area in the world. For skiers and snowboarders who want to cover as many miles as they can on a ski week or ski weekend, without having to ski the same run repeatedly, the Three Valleys is the perfect ski area.

With 85% of the ski area located above 1800 metres, including the highest ski resort in the Alps, there is guaranteed snow. This means that you can rely on good snow throughout the whole 3 Valley’s area to maximise your experience on holiday to the area. With over 600 kilometres of pistes and 150 kilometres of that in the Meribel lift pass area alone.

Getting to the Three Valleys can take as little as 1hr 45mins from Geneva airport to Brides Les Bains in the Meribel valley and leaves you in an ideal spot right at the base of the world’s largest ski resort, the 3 Valley’s.

Advanced

With plenty of off-piste runs, challenging reds and good mogul runs you have plenty to keep you busy in Meribel alone. Book a guide to take you around the Mont Vallon area for any off-piste, equally if you wanted to stay on-piste check out the Combe Vallon red. For a good mogul run, we’d recommend going down the side of the Roc de Tougne draglift. Slightly below the Saulire gondola is the Mauduit, a challenging red which used to be a black.

Intermediates

With plenty of runs suited to early intermediates right through to advanced intermediates, this resort is ideal for those of you with a short attention span! The runs into the other Valleys are well within the capabilities of any intermediate skier and opens up a vast number of blues and reds, often with better snow. For an easy cruise head down the Sittelle blue run towards Mottaret, generally in good condition but watch out as it can get crowded and bumpy towards the afternoons.

Beginners

Meribel is a good resort for beginners, offering gentle, tree-lined runs around the altiport which has long green runs and a fast eight-man chairlift with plenty of English speaking ski-schools around the resort as well. Another great area for beginners is at the top of the Plan de l’Homme chairlift where there is a green run well served by the Caves button lift.

Snowboarders

The 3 Valley’s area is one of the best in the world for keen snowboarders to hone their skills on a variety of terrain from short turns on well-maintained groomers to tearing up the powder on one of the many powder runs in the area. We can’t forget to mention the DC Area 43 snow park where some of the world’s best snowboarders often visit to take on some of the awesome features in the park including the XXL kickers and a competition half-pipe. In short, you will struggle to find many other resorts that can offer what the 3 Valley’s offers to snowboarders whether you are a beginner, intermediate or expert rider it really does have it all.

Off-Piste*

There is far too much off-piste in the 3 Valley’s to mention it all, which is why it is well worth getting a local guide to help you find the best spots suitable for your ability and experience. Some areas you may want to keep an eye out for or even ask your guide/instructor to take you to though, are the runs that go down either side of the ridge at the top of the Olympic Express chairlift towards Saint Martin or down to Raffort where you can jump back on the Olympe Gondola that takes you back to Meribel Chaudanne. Some other great off-piste spots can be found towards Val Thorens or over in Courchevel such as around the Col de la Loze area. Just make sure you are out early on a powder day as it does get tracked out pretty quickly during the peak times during the season!
