LES MENUIRES - THE RESORT
Situated in the heart of The 3 Valleys, Les Menuires is the epitome of a purpose-built ski resort offering all the ski convenience you could ever want. Divided into three separate tiers - La Croisette, Reberty and Preyerand – all with fantastic facilities, access to the piste and varied accommodation at each level. Visually, Les Menuires is a mix match of 70’s concrete resort building style and the more contemporary classical alpine design.
This contrast can be seen clearly at the centre of the village in La Croisette, where you will spot plenty of the 1970’s built apartment blocks (more Only Fools and Horses than To The Manor Born) responsible for Les Menuires reputation as the less attractive neighbour of the pretty Meribel. However, don’t be put off by the blocky building work, because the village is growing and over the years the development of newer properties, designed in the more classical alpine style, have left Les Menuires as a more aesthetically pleasing area.
Les Menuires is often a favourite choice for keen skiers for a variety of reasons. Not only is it generally more affordable than the more upmarket competitors like Courchevel and Meribel, but it is also highly practical. With high altitude, ensuring good snow, and a centralised location, offering unrivalled access to Europe’s largest skiing area, Les Menuires superb locality is one of its key defining features. Furthermore, Les Menuires practicality stretches to the resorts highly efficient infrastructure.
Nearly all of the accommodation in Les Menuires is ski in/ski out providing almost instant access to the slopes and due to very few roads, there is very little traffic to get in the way. In fact, with one of the most modern lift systems and fast efficient lift uplift, queuing for lifts tends to be an entirely non -issue in Les Menuires. Additionally, there are also free buses that connect all the parts of the resort, running every 20 minutes until 8 pm after which they run less frequently up until midnight.
