With Meribel and Meribel Mottaret so well connected, they do actually share many of the same après ski destinations such as the Folie Douce – located just below the Saulire Express mid-station – and the Rond Point. Due to the free shuttle service offered by Meribel, you are under no pressure to catch the last lift as the ‘D’ line/bus that runs from Meribel Centre takes around 10 minutes to get to Mottaret with the last bus not leaving until 23.48! However, for those that are looking for something a bit closer to home (or hotel!) then there are several spots in Meribel Mottaret that make for a great après ski party! The go-to après ski bars in Meribel Mottaret are Le Rastro Bar & Restaurant, Le Zig Zag and L’Annexe. Le Rastro is the most well-known of the bunch with a Tuesday rock party which attracts happy snow-goers from around the valley! Set in Le Chatelet under 50 metres from the bottom of the Plattieres gondola, it is also ski-in/ski-out which means it is incredibly easy to access. To top it off, it is also open until late so you can have your après ski, dinner and après dinner drinks all in the same place!
Meribel Mottaret Nightlife
As mentioned above, the shuttle service between Meribel and Meribel Mottaret makes it incredibly easy to head back into Meribel for a few evening drinks in what is the more party-friendly resort! But again Meribel Mottaret does have a few lively jaunts of its own…
Most of the bars that are open for après ski are also open until a reasonable time in the evening which means you are still within stumbling distance of your hotel having knocked back a few (more likely to be a lot…!) of the Austrian Jagertee’s in ‘Le Zig Zag’. L’Annexe Bar is another that you may come across in Mottaret, showcasing a host of sports shown on their TV’s and whilst enjoying their happy hour(s) between 16.30-18.00.
If this all seems a bit too much for you (and who could blame you after a gruelling day on the slopes tackling the 3 Valley’s 600km’s) then we have the perfect spot for you at La Table du Ruitor, a beautiful rustic wine bar with a roaring log fire and majestic selection of wine – or perhaps you may want to try out their ‘Cocktail of the day’ to spice things up a bit!
