PLACES FOR LUNCH
There is a great selection of restaurants in Val Thorens to suit all tastes and budgets. There are currently 11 mountain restaurants so it’s easy to stop off for a quick refuel before heading back out on the slopes. There is a wooden chalet located at the top of the Cime de Caron lift called Freeride Café Caron which has some stunning views or located on the blue run is the stylish Chalet de la Marine, said to be one of the best mountain restaurants in the Val Thorens ski area.
For a more budget option on the mountain try Les Chalets du Thorens, located at the bottom of La Moraine chair, this large self-service buffet of fresh pizza and pasta will be sure to keep you going throughout the day.
For something to snack on in resort, give John’s American Restaurant a try. It’s a Danish-owned Tex-Mex that’s situated in one of the most popular dining spots in Val Thorens with food ranging from home-made burgers to fajitas and steaks.
PLACES FOR DINNER
In Val Thorens, you’ll find a wide range of restaurants which offer something for everyone. From pizza and pasta eateries to American style restaurants and award-winning cuisine, the quality of the restaurants in Val Thorens is excellent.
If you wish to indulge in the best, then try the Michelin-starred Jean Sulpice restaurant (formerly known an L’Oxalys) where the chef is best known for being the youngest French chef to have ever received a Michelin Star. The Fitz Roy Hotel and Bergerie restaurants are also both highly recommended.
If you wish to sample some real local Savoyard cuisine, then head to Le Blanchot where you’ll be greeted with a wine bar type atmosphere and local specialities. For another traditional and rustic restaurant, try the La Ferme de Rosalie, it will give you a warm welcome where you can relax and get cosy by the open fireplace.
