A Season in Argentière – Could This Be Your Winter?
If you’ve done a season before, love the mountains and want to spend a winter somewhere with seriously good skiing, Argentière takes some beating.
This winter we’re opening two new SkiWeekends chalets in Argentière, in the Chamonix Valley, and we’re looking for two experienced Chalet Hosts to join a small team of three. It could particularly suit a couple who have done seasons before and fancy coming back to the mountains for another winter.
This is a role for people who understand what a season is all about. Chalet hosting can be hard work, with early mornings and busy changeover days, but the way we structure the week means there is plenty of opportunity to ski. Our team can realistically ski seven days a week, with one full day off and two days when work doesn’t start until the evening. If getting as much time as possible on the mountain is one of your reasons for doing a season, that makes a big difference.
Argentière is a complete contrast to Chamonix. It’s a small Alpine village that grew up as a legendary base for alpinism, and the mountains still feel very much at the heart of life here. Chamonix, just down the valley, is probably the most famous mountain town in the world, bustling with bars, restaurants, shops and après-ski. Argentière is quieter and friendlier, with its own bars and places to eat, but Chamonix and everything it offers is only a short bus ride away. It gives you the best of both worlds – a proper mountain village to live in and one of the liveliest towns in the Alps just down the road.
And then there’s the skiing. Our chalets are ski-in, ski-out for Les Grands Montets, with some of the best terrain in the valley literally on the doorstep. This is definitely a place for experienced skiers and snowboarders who want to make the most of a season. The other Chamonix ski areas are around 10–15 minutes away by bus, opening up a huge amount of different terrain throughout the winter.
For experienced seasonaires who love the mountains and want to spend as much of their winter as possible skiing or boarding, Argentière could be a pretty special place to spend a season.
