  • Ski area

La Clusaz and Manigod are located on the north-west flank of the Aravis massif. This favourable position gives them a combined average snowfall of more than 6 metres at an altitude of 1,860 metres. The La Clusaz ski area extends over 4 massifs: Beauregard - Étale - Aiguille - Balme. The Manigod ski area includes the La Croix-Fry and Merdassier sectors. These two connected areas comprise a total of 84 runs and 53 ski lifts, the tops of which reach up to an altitude of 2,600 metres, and provide 1,500 metres of descents, as well as breath-taking views of Mont Blanc. Beginner and intermediate skiers will revel in the variety. We would also recommend the that the more advanced skiers explore the off-piste opportunities along the many Cols of the Aravis range (we recommend booking a guide) but there are some challenging black runs too.

    The resort

La Clusaz is a very French resort (part of the Les Aravis ski area) removed from the hustle and bustle of other resorts in the Alps. Five mountain slopes at La Clusaz offer 130 km of piste that descend from open glades into tree lined pistes, but there really is something for everyone and plenty of skiing for a short break. Off the slopes, La Clusaz offers rustic charm in an unspoiled French mountain town. A good selection of restaurants cater for the weekend skiers, from nearby Annecy, and prices reflect this.

Our top tips for La Clusaz

    •  For some great apres ski on the pistes, ski back towards the village on the blue Merle run and stop for a drink or two en route. There's a great party atmosphere, especially in the   sun!
    •   Another bar with a fabulous 'terrasse' is the Cave du Paccaly. Enjoy the stunning views of the valley as the sun sets.
    •   For those looking to stay out later then try l'Ecluse which stays open until 5am.
    •   Off the pistes, for any evening activity try the ice rink. They even have a disco on a Friday night!
