Visit The Christmas Market
Is there anywhere quite as Christmassy as the quaint, snow-covered mountain towns and cities? Santa's grotto aside, the Christmas Market of Innsbruck in Austria is our favourite place to soak up the festive ambience. This year, why not combine a spot of Christmas shopping with some great skiing!
Ski & shop until you drop in Innsbruck
Enjoy some high altitude skiing whilst based in one of Austria's most famous cities. Staying at the 4* Hotel Grauer Baer in the wonderful city of Innsbruck, you'll be skiing in the resorts of Kuhtai or Axamer Lizum, or you can make your way to the Stubai Glacier. All are within a 40-minute bus ride from your hotel, with buses running on the hour each morning and returning in the afternoon you'll be able to spread your time between the wide-open slopes of the surrounding Innsbruck ski areas and the traditional Christmas markets of Innsbruck. Also, if you want to spend the day in the city and still get some skiing in, then you can enjoy night skiing underneath the floodlights every Wednesday between 6-10pm with the ski bus departing right from outside your hotel!
The 4* Hotel Grauer Baer is right on the edge of Innsbruck's old town and is only a 5-minute walk from the Christmas markets which usually run from mid-November through to early January. The markets range from the quintessential wooden Christmas stalls plucked from your imagination; family-focused attractions with a cosy traditional atmosphere; long streets lined with dazzling Christmas lights.
So get into the Christmas spirit this year by visiting some of the most atmospheric Christmas markets in the world.
So ski and shop until you drop this November/December - escape to one of the most characterful mountain cities and enjoy the Christmas build up in the most festive setting that exists; the mountains.
